    Does your son or daughter have an early interest in medicine and/or outdoor sports? Join us for a day of learning the basics of outdoor first aid, with instruction catered to your child's interests!  We'll explore various topics in wilderness medicine through games and other hands on activities designed to keep learning fun and memorable.  This is aimed at trying to eliminate fear around basic first aid, while also providing your child with skills they can carry forward in life, including an official CPR certification!


    Outline:


    -Introductions & name games


    - What is wilderness medicine?


    -Legal terms mix & match game, learning about when to help, when not to


    -How to assess a scene, tour around the park


    -How to stop bleeding, practice bandaging


    -CPR lesson & practice

     

    -Splinting arts & crafts

     

    -Medical speed dating (participants have to guess which medical condition a student has while they act it out)

    -Course wrap up, where to go from here, graduation

    Please arrive 15 minutes before start time to get situated and meet instructor.
