1- DAY Wilderness First Aid Course

Sept. 20th

8:30am-5:30pm

COURSE INCLUDES:

Further develop your wilderness medical skills with a full day of unscripted, intentional training in our 1 day Wilderness First Aid course! Great as a refresher for experienced practitioners, or as a way to fill in any existing gaps of knowledge for newer students.  Each course includes essential BLS & CPR training. The latter half of the day is designed to suit the needs of individual students, so the remainder of the course content varies widely, but often incorporates topics such as musculoskeletal injuries, lighting, hot/ cold injuries, and medical emergencies.

2-DAY Wilderness First Aid Course

October 18th & 19th 

8:30AM-5:30PM

    COURSE INCLUDES:

    • Patient assessment skills, including realistic medical/ trauma simulations
    • Basic Life Support/CPR
    • Treating massive hemorrhaging
    • Head injuries, shock, other traumatic injuries such as fractured ribs
    • Environmental challenges (Heat, Cold, Lightning etc.)
    • Patient transport
    • Toxins, bites, & stings
    • Splinting
    • Wound care, burns
    • Medical patient assessment

    Our 16-hour WFA class provides two full days of engaging & interactive
    medical education, tailored to the backcountry environment. This is the perfect
    class for those who desire a comprehensive wilderness medical class, but are
    unable to commit to a full Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course. The 16-hour
    WFA curriculum covers every major topic in wilderness medicine, in accordance
    with the most up-to-date guidelines from the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS).

    Whether you are an experienced healthcare provider or are looking to take your
    first ever WFA class, this training will provide you the necessary skills to look after
    your loved ones in the backcountry in case of emergency.

    8-DAY Wilderness First Responder Course

    November 17-24th

    8:30AM-5:30PM

    Discover the gold standard WFR certification with Cordillera! Now widely
    considered the standard across the board for search & rescue teams, outdoor
    guides, and recreational enthusiasts, the WFR certification is essential if you plan
    on spending any significant time in remote areas where supplies and resources
    are limited.

    For many, their WFR course stands out as a formative experience in
    their lives. We try to create that experience for every one of our students, and by
    the end of the class you'll leave with a whole new perspective on how to
    approach backcountry emergencies. From jellyfish stings to pneumothorax, we
    cover it all and exceed most standards required by EMT's in a densely packed 8
    days. We customize every course to meet your needs, so course formats vary
    widely.

    WFR course will flow as follows:

    Day 1: Introductions, patient assessment system, BLS skills
    Day 2: Trauma-related injuries, primary body systems
    Day 3: Wounds, splinting, additional skills practice & simulations
    Day 4: Medical patient assessment, patient transport, heat/ cold illness
    Day 5: Lightning, altitude, drowning, toxins, bites, stings, etc.
    Day 6: Documentation, evacuation, more complex scenarios, further skill
    development
    Day 7: Testing (Written/ Psychomotor)
    Day 8: Exam review, additional special topics, psychological first aid, continuing
    education, course wrap-up

    Make no mistake about it, this course is demanding. Be prepared to be
    "bloody", dirty, and work hard throughout the course. Students
    often have to put in additional hours between class days. By the end, you'll know
