In 1987 Jo, Stan and their firefighting buddy Jim Ciardelli incorporated Idaho River Sports. They began by running the business out of Jo's garage in Boise's North End neighborhood. Jo and Stan pretty quickly moved the shop to historic Hyde Park and were a mainstay of business in Hyde Park for over 20 years before purchasing the then Pleasanton Ave. location. Now the aptly named Whitewater Park Boulevard.  Even before Idaho River Sports was founded thirty-five years ago in Boise's North End, Jo and Stan were avid outdoors enthusiasts. Between all the changes we've made because of the COVID-19  pandemic and it's consequences to our economy and very way of life, 2020 was eye opening. And we'll just leave it at that. From our beginning 35 years ago in 1987 we were stoked to get as many people paddling as we could, any way we could. We sponsored some of the early whitewater rodeos, competitions; and recreational kayaking and canoeing outings though the Idaho Canoe Club. The Boise Fire Department, Boise Parks and Recreation, St. Luke's and Idaho River Sports Team Up to Make Life Jackets More Accessible.  We are happy to be working with the City of Boise and key community partners to ramp up efforts to connect local families with water safety resources and create stronger water safety awareness.
